Our Plan
The Real Canadian Recreation Society is a registered non-profit society created exclusively for Canadian Armed Force veterans. This society was born out of necessity to facilitate further rehabilitation and building of life skills for veterans on their road to mental and physical recovery. Our goal is to have outdoor trails for hiking, biking, and all terrain vehicles. Getting back to nature through camping, fishing, and physical activity.
The Real Canadian Recreation Society is focused on a few parts of the Culture Action Plan by educating Nova Scotians, Veterans, First Responders, and children not only on PTSD but also on the Afghan conflict. We also intend to have areas for Veterans to use for woodworking, mechanics, farming, and improvement of life skills through mentorship, guidance and peer to peer support. In future, we plan to take our veterans community knowledge and instruct at risk youth of being outdoors and providing a role model to them to teach them to overcome obstacles and boundaries.
We also intend to partner with as many local business, post secondary institutions, community groups, health care professionals, and the general public to create a sort of social experiment in the continued and ongoing need for Veteran care, increasing dialogue and knowledge of mental health, preservation of the history of the Afghan conflict.
This is a new and unique approach to the betterment of veterans and no other society exists like this with the overall intent of creating an outdoor eco-adventure park and retreat to assist in the healing and empowering of other veterans and educating Nova Scotians and the local community on the Afghanistan conflict and PTSD.
